Tabletta Corn  Maiden

Norman Cooeyate & Jacqueline Ghatate

Tabletta Corn Maiden

Item #
$ 279.99

Lovely and demure tabletta maiden Hand Carved by master carvers Norman Cooeyate and Jacqueline Ghatate from elk antler that has very intricate incising and inlay details throughout (no elk was harmed in making this maiden as they naturally shed their antlers each year). Norman is Zuni and Jacqueline is Zuni-Navajo and their collaborative efforts have come together to carve some of the most beautiful maidens at Zuni.  After the loss of a close friend to illness, Norman turned to carving to console himself and decided the corn maiden would make a fitting memory of his friend. When Jacqueline added her jewelry inlay skills to the intricately carved maidens, they were quickly recognized as outstanding, and were soon sought after by Zuni fetish collectors everywhere. They are no longer actively carving as they both have other interests now, Norman was at one time the Governor of the Zuni Pueblo and Jacqueline is pursuing a career in nursing. This is a historically important carving and a great deal at our price of $279.99. Order this museum quality carving now and enjoy! Signed NC and JG. 3 1/4" tall-1" wide (base)- 1" deep (base). 100% money back satisfaction guarantee.
