Late in life Francis was confined to a wheelchair and could only carve with one hand being partially paralyzed from a stroke. Francis passed away in May of 2003, Besides being the son of Leekya Deyuse, he was the brother of Sarah Leekya and Alice Leekya Homer, and the father of carvers Delvin, Hayes, and Freddie Leekya.
