Very large and heavy, gray, brown and beige Picasso marble "sculpture fetish" medicine bear with hump back, elongated neck, inlaid turquoise eyes and nostrils plus an offering bundle of a 2 3/4" shell arrow point, two large turquoise nuggets a red coral branch nugget and several small heishe beads. This is a quintessential Anderson Weahkee "big medicine bear" carving which makes good use of the stone's natural colors. Anderson was born on April 20, 1957 and passed away on February 22, 2009. He was the brother to both Lena Boone and Dinah Gasper, son of Edna Weahkee Leki and grandson of Teddy Weahkee. It was originally purchased from Sunshine Studio, Santa Fe New Mexico in November of 1996.
