Edna Weahkee Leki Bear Fetish Native American Carving

Edna Weahkee Leki

Edna Weahkee Leki Bear Fetish

Item #
$ 369.99

Light pinkish-brown serpentine bear carved in Leki's slab-sided, very traditional style with inlaid turquoise eyes, a thin serrated tail drooping down the rump, plus an offering pack on it's back consisting of a shell arrow point, two turquoise nuggets, a coral branch and a few small heishe beads. This is a very attractive but late "two-dimensional" Leki piece made in relatively large scale due to her failing eyesight and declining ability to work on small carvings. Edna was born on 10/25/1924 and passed away on 8/13/2003, she had ceased carving in early 1999. She was the matriarch elder of the extended Weahkee- Tsikewa-Gasper-Boone families, daughter of Teddy and Anna Left Hand Weahkee and mother of Lena Boone, Anderson Weahkee and Dinah Gasper. Buy this important carving now and own a little bit of Zuni art history. 3 1/2" long- 2 1/2" tall- 3/4" thick. 100% money back satisfaction guarantee. Certificate of authenticity will be included.
