Black and white "zebra rock" pinto pony hand carved with inlaid turquoise eyes, incised nostril holes, straight back tail, incising along the tail and on the head and neck to define the mane, plus pale blue turquoise hooves. Francis used flat turquoise segments as "shoes" and did not cut his normal "toes" into the feet, in order to approximate and accent the hooves, characteristics that differentiate his relatively uncommon horse carvings from his bears and wolves. Francis passed away in May of 2003 and was the son of Leekya Deyuse, brother of Sarah Leekya and Alice Leekya Homer and father of carvers Delvin, Hayes and Fredie Leekya.
