  Terrific bear fetish Hand Carved from pipestone with turquoise inlaid eyes and a turquoise nugget bundle. This is a very large and early carving by Saul. In the early 1990's Saul quit putting eyes on his bear fetishes, his favorite subject because his sight was beginning to fade. Saul started carving after World War II and was 96 years old and still carving. when he passed away in 2009.  Saul was less than five feet tall but he had a great big beautiful smile and sparkling eyes looking out from his sun baked face.
