Alice is one of the most important carvers in the Zuni world of fetishes, She was born in 1923 and passed away in 1988.  She learned to carve from her father who was Leekya Deyuse whom many consider to be the Rembrandt of Zuni fetish carving. Alice started as a jeweler but in the 70's and 80's she increasingly carved her distinctive bears and wolves. Her children Bernard Homer Jr, Juana Homer and Patrick Homer all carried on the family carving tradition and were great carvers in their own right.
